Yesterday visuals I haven't shared
I missed too many days of writing this week, now I need to open a stand alone publication of my Instagram digest.
I want to remind why I share my Instagram posts every time. It’s not because I’m obsessed with my visual gallery and want to spread my choices of artists and photographers all over the world. I surely want share the beauty I find interesting - either aesthetically or mentally. Of course, I want to support the talented people whose work I admire. But also after 6 years on Instagram I got used to the community I built and its support became essential to me, I miss the time I shouldn’t use VPN to open the application and to post on it, read the comments, discuss things.
By the way, if you want to participate in the crowdfunding of my blogs and just support me, you can subscribe on my Substack. Though I try to keep all my articles open for the public, paid subscription includes articles I have to close partially because of novelties in Russian media law that limit me and put me in risk of the legal charges and even a jail time. I hope there will be other reasons to close materials - like their commercial value, for example, - as soon as I reach that state of mind when I can think about business more than about my every day struggle what to say and what to keep for myself.
Now everything became complicated, so for those who have troubles seeing my posts on Instagram, and who want to catch up on something they missed online, I decided to copy my social feed and share it on Substack. Usually I add a tiny digest to my every posts, including the texts (this week such happened on the 26th of April, you can scroll to read it). 6.20am April, 26th zakharova_kaetano Good morning 🌞 How are you today? #haveagoodday I know that we are in the beginning of the refugee crisis in Europe and in the USA as well. I want to address not to people who decide who’s worth of that status and who’s not enough white/rich/educated/potentially useful for their countries, but to the refugees themselves. Watching the fight that is now growing between Ukrainians and Russians in exile, it really makes me sick. I think if you want to fight against another country then you should do it at least addressing to people that show aggression against you, not to the victims of the same regime. That war is on another side of the border. There’s no need to bring it with you into the peace where you found the shelter and to do it at the cost of the citizens of the country that sponsored your welcoming like never ever before - not for Africa, not for people from Asia, Middle East, or Latin and South America. You are privileged. Maybe you shouldn’t be, because being a refugee isn’t about safe traveling or comfortable immigration. It’s about leaving a world behind because it doesn’t exist anymore. The home that was built, your culture, your habits - all that is disappearing, shrinking to your own identity. It’s about a vault inside. That pain is the same for every refugee. They all are lost, equally. They might have different baggage and different financial needs but the vault is the same, the pain is the same. That should unite, that should make the life easier, because it’s about sharing and helping each other. It’s about the manifestation of good faith, peace, gratitude to the hosting country and will to repay for hospitality - temporary or not. It’s about respect to each other. It’s not a ground for nationalism, the unreasonable untamed anger against innocent people only because their nationality or culture. Discrimination only proves the point of war. Deal with your own bugs. See each other, not the stereotypes. @BrunoCesarCatalano series “Les Voyageurs”.
