Inspiration sourced from art, history, fashion and news that keeps me sane and creatively alive
Welcome to F! Simulacrum: World, fashion, art, culture, market by me, Olga Zakharova Kaetano.
UPDATE: This is post generated by Substack, I don’t want to add anything, because it is so old that I can’t even remember what I was thinking about at that moment, almost a year ago.
I came here from Instagram: my profile is @zakharova_kaetano. I think the reason for my interest to Substack was Instagram’s algorithm that kept me frustrated about the reach my post got. From 60K of my followers only 30-50% could see works that I had shared. And if I could choose what I would like them to see first of all I wouldn’t be able to do that. All content I selected was worth their time, the time people spent on looking through the profiles of the designers, authors, creators, artists. I frustrated because I needed to publish visuals that caused “wow” reaction and the most lyrical or thoughts provoking content I could only keep for myself. Those if published would stay invisible to my audience no matter how much I valued it because Instagram doesn’t like blurred, unfocused images, strange messages and nudity and many other things. I don’t post paid content. I don’t post to please anyone. I post because I feel people should see those things/images/art. Because I believe it makes life better, as minimum, it makes mood better. And eventually it make the world better. Even if it’s “better” is extremely local, like one person’s home, I think it’s worth my work.
That’s how I started looking for a space where I could share more, inspire more, promote creativity and beauty as I see it and concepts in which I believe.
Now it’s also about my life and my ability to continue going on with my profession. It’s about the quality of my texts, the loyalty of my readers and their will to support me in this journey.
